This adaptation of Bentley's Textbook of Pharmaceutics follows the same goals as those of the previous edition, in a new look. The book has six sections:

? Section I deals with the physicochemical principles. Two new chapters: Complexations and ICH Guidelines for Stability Testing, have been added to make it more informative.

? Section II conveys the information regarding pharmaceutical unit operations and processes.

? Section III describes the area of pharmaceutical practice. Extensive recent updates have been included in many chapters of this section. Two new chapters: Parenteral Formulations and New Drug Delivery Systems, have been added.

? Section IV contains radioactivity principles and applications.

? Section V deals with microbiology and animal products.

? Section VI contains the formulation and packaging aspects of pharmaceuticals. Pilot Plant Manufacturing concepts are added as a new chapter, which may be beneficial to readers to understand the art of designing of a plant from the pilot plant model.
 
 About the Author
Sanjay K. Jain, Professor of Pharmaceutics at Dr Hari Singh Gour University, Sagar (M.P.), has nearly 21 years of research and teaching experience as well as 2 years of industrial experience. He has published approximately 130 research papers in various journals of international repute and contributed 6 books chapters. Dr Jain has one US and one European patent to his credit. He has supervised many Ph.D. and M.Pharm. research projects. He has been thrice awarded the IDMA award for the best research paper in 1992, 2003 and 2006, and M.L. Khorana award 2003 in pharmaceutical technology 2005 at 57th IPC. He has been conferred upon the prestigious 2004 CRS-Capsugel/Pfizer graduate/post-doc award at the 31st Annual Meeting and Exposition of controlled release society, USA, which represents his potential of academic excellence and scientific venture. He is a life member of many learned societies.

Vandana Soni, Associate Professor of Pharmaceutics at Dr Hari Singh Gour University, Sagar (M.P.) India, has more than 15 years of experience in teaching and research. She is the author of over 22 peer-reviewed scientific publications and has also published about 10 research abstracts in various conferences. Dr Vandana has supervised many M.Pharm. dissertation projects and is currently supervising Ph.D. students. She is also life member of many academic societies.
